I’m writing this while Lola is snoring on my feet and Mabel is trying to reach a toy she has knocked under the sofa!

Being a single, work-at-home, mum is a whirlwind, and these two pugs are my sanity (and more often, my insanity). I wanted a place to share our journey and help other pug parents – not just to preach to the choir – but to share and invite others to do the same.

So who are Lola and Mabel?

Meet Lola: The Resident Snore-Machine

Lola is a faun pug. She is 7 years old this year and brings a unique charm to our home that is hard to resist. With her double coat, she is incredibly cuddly, and her playful nature ensures that she sheds pug ‘glitter’ everywhere—when I say everywhere, I mean EVERYWHERE! It’s a delightful mess that adds character to our living space. Lola is not just a pet; she is the heart and soul of our family. Her sweet demeanour and loving personality are the reasons why I decided to get a second pug! Together, they create a lively atmosphere filled with antics and joy. Lola also has a talent for snoring really loud, which often makes for some amusing late-night moments and work meetings.

She absolutely adores our beach trips, where she loves to paddle and roll in seaweed, her excitement contagious as she runs with pure delight.

Meet Mabel: The Sun Worshipper

Mabel is a grey or platinum pug and is celebrating her 5th birthday this year. With her striking looks and vibrant character, she has quickly become a beloved member of the family. Mabel is not just a regular pug; she possesses an intelligence that consistently amazes everyone around her. Coupled with her sassy demeanour, she often keeps her humans on their toes, and it’s precisely this vivacious personality that has firmly convinced me not to go down the path of adding a third pug to our household (sorry, not sorry).

Her mischievous antics are legendary; whether it’s stealing food from Lola’s bowl or playfully hiding her toys in the most unexpected places, Mabel knows how to keep life entertaining. Yet, beneath that cheeky exterior lies a capacity for sweetness that melts hearts. When the day turns sunny, Mabel has a charming routine of seeking out the perfect spot in the garden to sunbathe – usually in font of the patio doors of the summer house. With her little body sprawled out, basking in the warm rays, she epitomizes pure contentment. It’s a sight that not only brings joy to my day but also serves as a reminder of the simple pleasures in life, which Mabel embraces wholeheartedly.
