Is She… All Pug? The Wisdom Panel Reveal 🕵️‍♀️🐾

Mabel has always been a bit of a mystery. While Lola is a Kennel Club registered pug with a pedigree longer than a royal wedding guest list, Mabel was different. When she was younger, she was much slimmer and leggier than your typical pug. I’ll be honest—I just didn’t believe she was “all pug.”

I kept seeing the adverts for Wisdom Panel on TV and finally decided it was time to settle the debate once and for all. It was around £60 when I bought it, so it’s a bit of an investment, but the curiosity was getting the better of me!

The Process (A.K.A. The “Mabel Mouth” Challenge)

The kit arrived from Amazon within a few days, looking very official. It comes with a clear “How-to” guide, a swab, and a sample tube. The instructions are simple, but the execution? That’s another story!

Trying to get a “clean” swab of DNA without just getting a mouthful of frothy pug-saliva is harder than it looks. In fact, our first attempt was rejected! Thankfully, the team at Wisdom Panel was great—they sent us a replacement swab for free, and we managed to get a successful sample on the second try.

The Big Reveal 💌

The website says to allow up to a month, but our results landed in just over three weeks. To say I was surprised by the results is an understatement…

Is it worth it?

I didn’t pay for the extra health upgrade at the time, but the cool thing is that you can unlock 260+ health tests later without having to do another swab! It can screen for things like:

• Skeletal & Heart Conditions
• Skin Issues

It’s such a relief to have that peace of mind (and to finally know that Mabel is, indeed, all Pug—just a very athletic one!).
